Dear Editor,
I would like to commend columnist Mark Wignall on an excellent article, "A card pack of jokers on Seaga", in the Sunday Observer of October 14, 2012 . We do not always see eye to eye, but that week he hit the nail squarely on the head.
To read the news articles in the press and to hear in the media about the the honouring of Edward Seaga, I was overwhelmed with disappointment that the Jamaican people had not yet learnt - we have no real reason to celebrate. And now I see that honouring Mr Patterson looms.
Successive politicians have failed this country on egotistic tyrannical tirades, with no real comprehensive dream to carry the nation forward. The real work is always done by the ordinary citizens who excel: the Bob Marleys, Marcus Garveys and Usain Bolts, the ordinary folk who spend to keep the economy running, the teachers, taxi-men, vendors and garbage men, the people who dive and rescue off flat bridge, everyday heroes. - and I mean everyday. They are the ones to be honoured.
