KingAlarm to the rescue!

Dear Editor,

I was one of those in Stony Hill who suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy during which a tree in my front garden fell on a portion of my roof, cutting my telephone and power connections. I write to commend and thank members of the KingAlarm Security Team for coming to my aid in my darkest hour and for going above and beyond my contractual obligations, and indeed, my wildest expectations.

This is what happened: at about 1:30 pm on October 24 when Hurricane Sandy hit Jamaica, I heard a loud crashing noise. My electricity supply was immediately disrupted and I saw where a large section of a tree in my garden had fallen onto my roof. Picking up my telephone, I realised it was not working. I was alone at home and fearful, to say the least. It was then that I remembered my trusted KingAlarm panic button, although I confess that I doubted that KingAlarm could help with my situation or that the men on the road were even working at the time because of the hurricane.

Was I ever wrong! Within less than 10 minutes after pressing the button, I had two carloads of able-bodied men at my house although the wind and rain were fierce. Using an electric saw, they climbed onto my roof and cut away portions of the fallen tree to reduce the damage while others on the inside helped me cut off the main power supply and to re-arrange my belongings to minimise water damage inside. Minutes later, a manager from the company arrived at my house. What impressed me most was the fact that these people seemed to care more about my own safety and well-being than they cared about their own, as they risked their lives with seemingly no hesitation!

While Sandy will not go down as one of the worst hurricanes to hit Jamaica in my lifetime, it was the most frightening for me, and my neighbourhood appeared more affected than others. However, the one bright spark of Hurricane Sandy will be the brave men from KingAlarm who came to my rescue. I got no fewer than three follow-up calls in subsequent days inquiring as to my well-being, and I will be forever grateful to the company for reminding me what service and commitment are all about!
