Dear Editor,
In the Apostolic letter, Porta Fídei, Pope Benedict XVI announces the Year of Faith. Indeed, no effort has been spared to reveal the Gospel's teachings. The Year of Faith, which began on October 11, will end on November 24, 2013.
The Year of Faith is presented as a new warning to each one of the children of the Church, with the aim of cultivating faith that is alive, battling it out in order to get to know it more, loyally putting it into practice, as well as compromising ourselves to spread it by communicating to the many people that are yet to know Jesus Christ.
The Year offers us a splendid occasion to deepen the divine treasure that we have received and promote this virtue in order for it to reach out as far as possible.
The first Christians believed that they too had to have firm faith on Heaven's grace in order to carry out the mandate of spreading Christ's teaching throughout the entire world.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith suggests that we once again taste the beauty of the faith that we have received from God, and that we put it into practice every day and promote it without thinking about what others might say.
The necessity of preaching our faith does not limit itself to the countries classified as mission lands but concerns the entire planet.
The Apostles, only with faith in Christ and motivated by a secure and joyous faith, spread and promoted the Christian doctrine worldwide. Do we give testimony of our faith without being intimidated by the difficulties of our context? Faith is a supernatural gift that only God can instil into our souls. We must pray to Him to increase our faith, hope and charity.
Let us become closer to the Holy Mass with a deepened faith, convinced of the Sacrifice of the Cavalry, the Sacrifice that sanctifies and revitalises us for the battle that each day brings.
We must distance ourselves from sin which can break our faith, fade our hope, and shrivel our love.
