Dear Editor,
I must admit, I don't normally watch football.
It is hard to avoid the World Cup, though. Everyone, including my older brother, is watching it on television around the clock, so I have seen parts of some of the matches.
Some say the most exciting matches were Germany versus Ghana, Brazil versus Colombia or United States versus Belgium, but to me, the most exciting match was Brazil's battle with Mexico in the group stage. That one I had to watch in full.
Brazil are seen as one of the best teams in the world. Mexico are not as strong, but they held Brazil to a nil-all draw. I was so very happy for Mexico.
The result ensured that little Mexico, kind of our neighbours in the region, moved on to the next round of the tournament.
They are both extraordinary teams with Mexico having my favourite goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, midfielder Juan Pablo Rodriguez, forward Alan Pulido and defender Andres Guardado.
Ochoa made some special saves in goal. The other players caught my eye because of their stylish play and quickness of feet. They were rough sometimes, too.
I do not want to seem like I am biased, but Brazil really tried hard, too.
They have goalkeeper Julio Cesar, midfielder Luiz Gustavo, forward Neymar Jr and defender David Luiz and their other teammates strived for excellence, but the match still ended in a draw.
