Acting Mayor Thomas doing a good job

Dear Editor,

Governments in this country play with the peace and security of the Jamaican people.

There is a section in the Bible which speaks to the deeds of King Saul against the young soldier David. The cry went something like this: "King Saul killed his thousands but David his tens of thousands." So it is with Acting Mayor Leon Thomas of Portmore.

I have, before, written about the exploits of the almost incomparable George Lee, published in this very august paper. He was one of the best mayors, ever. However, Leon Thomas, perhaps having sat at the feet of Lee, is upping the mark or even better. When was the last time any of these persons positioning themselves to make decisions on matters concerning Portmore visited the city?

The municipality is clean, gullies and drains cleared and bushed and a general appearance of wide space and tidiness presented. A beauty to the eyes of any visitor and resident... thanks to the efforts of Acting Mayor Thomas.

If you have a good man doing a good job, what else is needed? Why do we always make things so difficult for our people? Mr Thomas' work speaks for itself.

The city needs to go on with its business, so please have Mr Thomas settled in the role permanently. By the way, is Mr McKenzie recommending himself as a possible candidate for the role of mayor in Portmore? That would never happen.

McKenzie is best suited where he is, as communities understand like-mindedness. History, history, history. Jamaicans forget too readily or make others forget the past too easily.
