The American people have spoken

Dear Editor,

President Obama's re-election could not have had a touch of divine intervention or any reference to Hurricane Sandy.

I am no theologian or pollster. My assumption is based on the following: the demographic change in the American political landscape was tailor-made for the ideal candidate who shows genuine love for the masses, has correct policies to help the middle and lower class, policies to promote growth in the economy, thinks of the present and future, commands respect abroad, is a strong leader and is trustworthy.

The American electorate told the world of its choice on November 6. The Republican Party with its racist fringe and hate groups and obstructionist lawmakers in Congress and the Senate had a political death wish by alienating women voters, middle-class voters and the most powerful political coalition in American history.

As it appears now, no party will ever be able to win the Senate, Congress and the presidency without the majority of Hispanic, African American, Asian American, and at least 40 per cent of white votes.

The major plus factors are:

* The Republican senators and Congress will spend time doing the job they are paid to do

* Show respect for minority groups

* Realise that the citizens expect high standards from elected officals.

The people have spoken. The voice of the people is the Voice of God.
