Watch it, Bolt!

Dear Editor,

The Times newspaper reported some controversial comments allegedly made by Usain Bolt about the Commonwealth Games: "The Olympics were better", and that he was "not really" having fun in Glasgow.

Naturally, Bolt and his agent/manager dismissed the reports as nonsense/rubbish.

I want to believe the newspaper. As much as we adore Bolt, his image can be a bit untempered. Of course, the Commonwealth Games are not the Olympics. There is a different level of energy, competition, the works. Bolt should have kept his negative thoughts to himself. He sometimes projects himself too much. And he might well have opinions, but public relations and image are crucial parts of one's success.

He was also photographed/video-taped in the company of the British Royals, in particular Prince William, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry. Bolt, in his usual style, seized the moment, projecting himself as the star attraction amongst the group -- the real royal; hands in pockets, casually, and all. After all, they came to see him, he didn't go to see them.

We can read this with humour for what it's worth, but we have a popular saying, "The higher monkey climb, the more him expose".

We love you Bolt, but watch your public relations, and watch your manners.
