Dear Editor,
God has in the past used drought to tell nations that He is displeased with them and that they need to give up their evil ways and do what is right in His sight (Amos 4:7-8).
The drought in Jamaica and elsewhere is indeed a sign that God is displeased with us. People have forsaken God. When there are discussions on any topic, most people do not refer to the Bible anymore, but they speak as if there is no God and no absolute standard of right and wrong.
People generally are doing what is right in their own eyes. They are telling lies, being unjust in their treatment of others, unfaithful to their marriage partners, committing homosexual acts, murdering one another and many other acts that are against what God has commanded.
If you repent of all of your displeasing acts, and genuinely turn back to God, humble yourselves before Him, put your faith in Jesus Christ to begin a new life of obedience to God, God will show mercy on you. He will forgive you and He will be motivated to break the drought.
I also encourage the prime minister of St Lucia: Do not buckle under the pressure to legalise buggery or to legalise same-sex marriage. God will provide for your people, but you must trust in Him and do what is right. Those countries that have legalised buggery or same-sex marriage, God is calling on you to repent. Time is running out on you. So then, the lesson of the drought is that God wants you to repent and return to Him now.
