A victory for humanity

Dear Editor,

It is very pleasing to know that President Barack Obama was re-elected to continue for the next four years as the political head of the most powerful country in the world.

Considering all the ethnic disfavour and imbalance against him, surely this must be a victory for humanity the world over. Critics may have being counting on the premise that America is populated with mostly Caucasian subjects from European descent and that Obama, being of African ancestry, may have been outnumbered - where favouritism was concerned.

Surely, his performance over the past four years cannot be called anything but a success, considering his efforts to stabilise the US economy and create employment. This certainly augurs well for Obama and his party.

On the matter of world influence, Mr Obama exercised caution and placidity in his approach to sensitive situations and was not one that demonstrated ignorance or force to settle or confront issues. The American electorate must be congratulated for demonstrating maturity and good sense for their own cause.

This can only be to the detriment of wayward and racist-minded people who for the moment thought that because America is mostly white, they would favour their own clan.

May the nation be blessed with prosperity under Obama for the next four years.

Congrats to the American people.
