Dear Editor,
The situation in an area called Wiltshire at the border of Trelawny and St James is that every night from about 9:00 pm a dense fog takes over the area all the way to Flamingo and Greenwood. The fog leaves a black soot on everything and is believed to be causing breathing problems, coughing, headaches, nausea, among other illnesses.
We in the affected areas would love to see NEPA take some corrective action against the company that is producing tar in Trelawny as the soot from the building comes right towards us.
Incidentally, they only operate at night when they know the environmental agency is closed and not likely to do any air-quality tests.
As I write this at 10:33 pm, the dense fog and scent of burning tar or rubber is strong in the air.
Please, we want to be able to breathe fresh air again.
