MAJ and NAJ are PNP apologists

Dear Editor,

I have lost confidence in the leadership of the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) and Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ). Their position on this chikungunya crisis is poor and shows that they too are guilty of very poor leadership. Why Jamaica salt so I don't know.

I listened to MAJ President, Dr Shane Alexis and Antoinette Patterson, NAJ president, recently and it is obvious that both are apologists for the governing People's National Party (PNP). They would do better to submit their membership forms tomorrow and become party spokespersons.

It amazes me that with the glaring failure of the minister of health and the Government in general with their handling of the chikungunya crisis and the literal falling apart of the entire health system, they are less than alarmed and find excuses for the Government.

As two organisations with direct interests in the health sector, their silence on its terrible state is sad. That they constantly provide the Government with a pillow to lay on is scandalous. It would do well for their members to rise up and put in their leadership positions people who not only have the interests of members at heart, but that of the hard-working people of Jamaica.
