Dear Editor,
Allow me to emphasize the fact that there are still good policemen and women in our police force. Too often we hear of the bad ways in which the policemen and women are portrayed and we think that it's every member who subscribes to the "eat-a-food" mentality.
However, when I read the story appearing in the Sunday Observer on October 26, 2014, headlined 'Cpl Nickoyan Brown points to benefits of volunteering', I could not but come to the conclusion that, indeed, we still have good cops who are out there fighting and working to create and keep a good image of the police force.
The examples of Cpl Brown selflessly giving of his time and talent in volunteering is an indication that not only good persons are in our Jamaican socieity, but even more so in the police force. I would hope that this is an example to others. For two often we hear of communities at odds with the police force and many people become weary and distrusting of them.
What this shows, however, is that it doesn't take much for our policemen and women to give selflessly. So the entire Jamaica can rest assured that they are here to serve and to protect.
Congratulations, again, to Cpl Brown, and by extension the Jamaica Constabulary Force, because indeed this speaks volumes that there are indeed good men and women who join and stay in the JCF.
