Dear Editor,
Marlene Mahaloo-Forte has expressed her disappointment with the people of Central Westmoreland for casting their ballots in favour of the People's National Party (PNP) candidate Dwayne Vaz in the recent by-election.
My question is, shouldn't she be far more disappointed in her party? Her party leaders cast her aside in a late bid to make a run for the seat, then inserted Faye Jacobs, who definitely was a misfit.
Was she offered the seat because she threatened to resign from the party? Was that seat just a sweetener to keep her? Was this candy offered just to keep her interested? Why really was Mahaloo-Forte cast aside? Mahaloo-Forte is apparently a daughter of that parish and had put in reasonable leg work — it seemed. But that constituency was never at any time going to go mean and green. She is venting all over social media, and it doesn't sound pretty. Castigating the people for exercising their franchise is never going to win her or her party any popularity votes, and that is precisely where her party is sadly lacking.
