The decline in the price of oil means that overall tax revenues will decline for 2015. The best option, therefore, is to gear policy towards research and development.
I can see someone trying to justify an increased tax net. But unless these monies are reinvested in Jamaica. we will derive no benefit. The alternative is debt. Debt is the money that we and our children will have to repay, and the cycle continues.
I pray that the social upheaval this can bring will be tempered by the Church with a message of hope for this life and the life to come.
