Dear Editor,
The political hypocrisy is just too much to handle at this critical juncture in the life of our nation. While I decry the Opposition leader's announcement that the JLP's election campaign has already started, it is surprising to see how much time the prime minister has dedicated to condemning Mr Holness's statements.
If memory serves me right, on the night of the 2007 general election Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller did not concede defeat, and she went on to state that she would be a nightmare to the new government. This was even more serious than what Mr Holness said recently. Furthermore, the PNP has been campaigning non-stop for the last five years.
Interestingly, the PNP is the party in government and they are still holding press conferences and meetings as a party to denounce what the JLP has said. Aren't they themselves in some kind of campaign mode?
The prime minister, who has been so silent on more urgent and critical matters, should not be focusing so much of her time on such trivia. Instead, she ought to be giving attention to the discomfort of the victims of Hurricane Sandy in Portland, the flood victims in St Mary three weeks ago, and more recently the flood victims in Runaway Bay, St Ann.
