Dear Editor,
Watching news on the television on Saturday, March 7, 2015, I saw the prime minister in St Thomas, where the 14-year-old schoolgirl was murdered, consoling the child's grandmother.
However, a man who seemed to be a relative was been interview in her presence on camera. His words to the prime minister were urging her to bring back hanging.
Because hangings are not being done, people who would think twice before becoming murderers have now started to kill because they know that they will not be hanged. There are several people on death row that should not be alive based on the acts they have committed.
I am in full support of bringing back the death penalty, and the Government is to be blamed for all the murders that have been committed since the Pratt and Morgan appeal. The Privy Council did not say that capital punishment should be abolished. What they said is that the process should be completed within five years, which includes all appeals. When a man or woman commits these capital crimes they should receive the ultimate capital punishment.
