Dear Editor,
Can someone from the police force please explain to us, the travelling motorists, the reason behind the use of the flashing blue lights on their patrol vehicles during the day and night by the Police Motorized Patrol Division.
On Saturday, March 28, 2015, I was travelling behind one of these vehicles (MPD 068) at 8:10 pm going along Hope Road and this vehicle had its lights flashing from the traffic lights at Trafalgar and Waterloo straight up to Liguanea.
These lights are extremely distracting, especially at night, and can cause accidents because of their blinding effect on one's vision.
I believe that these lights should be used only in cases of emergency, not for driving along in a casual manner.
Are these officers aware of the proper use of these light?
I look forward to hearing from the relevant officer in charge for an explanation.
