Where is Obama on reparations?

Dear Editor,

Seeing that Barack Obama is the most significant leader of African descent to come to the world stage, I would like to know if he is going to use his influence, especially in the United Nations, to address the issue of reparations and make it just as important an agenda as Israel, national security and other world issues.

I am suggesting that Obama, being the great negotiator that he is, looks, firstly, at the valuation of reparations to descendants of British and colonial slaves and swapping it for the tremendous debt that is said to be owed to the IMF and World Bank by countries like Jamaica.

This debt is the biggest crippling factor against the wholesome development of nation states like Jamaica, though compounded by the poor leadership we have had since Independence.

This could be the most telling legacy that Obama leaves the world, and thus cement his place as not just the greatest US president, but the most significant statesman of the 21st century.
