Dear Editor
I write in response to the 'Sack them' article that was published in the Observer of April 8, 2015. How can Matthew Samuda say that Minister Lisa Hanna has done "nothing to justify her membership" in the Cabinet and have the audacity to say she, along with other members of the Cabinet, must be sacked?
Listen up, Samuda, the first person that needs sacking is your leader, Andrew Holness himself. Is there even still a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP)? The JLP lost when their leader's credibility came into questioning after he submitted two unsigned letters of resignation to oust two senators. What's more, it became more than just credibility questioning, but a public debacle that ended up in courts and ruled as unconstitutional. The current running of the JLP shows that there is no regard for the best interest of the country, but rather yourselves.
Minister Hanna has been making tremendous strides since she entered office in 2012. She has been doing a lot and holding the fort as a successful Minister of Youth and Culture: From the many Pon di Corna sessions, which seek to get the youth involved in the decision-making process and respond to their plights, to the completion of the dossier for the nomination of the Blue and John Crow mountains to the World Heritage List; returning nine out of 10 missing children, deploying councillors to the families and communities of slain children; extending the Art for Life programme throughout the State-care facilities to encourage emotional management and stability; and being the only minister of government that was present at the United Nation's Committee on the Rights of the Child meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
It is indeed very evident that you're new to the political landscape. But before you sack anybody outside of the JLP for not performing, sack Andrew first and the entire JLP mockery.
