Dear Editor,
Yesterday, following the accident with Lisa Hanna, I noticed the most vitriolic and disgusting comments coming from some Jamaicans on social media; some even being critical of her picture with a neck brace and some saying she should have gone to a public hospital. Why be bitter at her?
It makes me wonder what kind of cold-hearted animals we are dealing with, that even in the face of such a tragedy it was not enough to wish her well. It was more about where she went to receive care.
Common sense dictates that if either you or your family member were injured, and you could afford private care, that is what you would do. The naysayers are such political hypocrites that they do not even know when to leave politics alone and simply have the heart and the empathy to wish one well.
To see the country of my birth become a battlefield of political alliances speaks volumes about who we are and exactly where we are heading. When we are so blinded by political affiliations that we cannot even differentiate between right and wrong says we are a people truly lost and will pay dearly for it.
