Dear Editor,
It is most interesting how the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has the ability to destroy its chances of forming the next government. The party's constant infighting and bickering seems to never end, or when it seems it has subsided another battle is created.
The current government has proven that it has what it takes to make Jamaican's lives very hard. It has proven time and time again that the country's best interest is not necessarily their priority at this time as they have constantly put unimportant things at the front burner and the major issues that affect the people are rarely spoken of.
Even though their performance to date has mostly been disastrous, the JLP seems not to have the aptitude to capitalise on any of it as they are too busy mismanaging their own party. It is very sad that the Opposition can't seem to find its footing to save the country. In 2007, the JLP, along with Bruce Golding, energised the country and, for the most part, did a great job managing the country's affairs through one of the world's worst economic depressions. Had it not been for their handling of the Dudus matter the JLP and Bruce Golding would have gone down in the history books in a very positive way. Even though Golding is seen as a political outcast because of the Dudus matter, I view him as one of Jamaica's greatest prime ministers as he really propelled Jamaica's business and growth to the top of his agenda. Andrew Holness needs to get a grip of the people within his party; they are destroying every fibre of hope Jamaicans have in the JLP.
I say to the PNP, if you can, try as best as possible to fix the country and put the people's affairs on the priority list, but I also say to the Opposition, if you are able to find your footing and fix the egos of your members, try and save the country in the next elections, and dare I say, that's if we survive the current economic situation. If these tasks are too hard for either party, may God help us.
