Dear Editor,
I'm writing to you because yesterday's (Monday, July 13, 2015) Trinidad and Tobago Newsday Paper published an article concerning a shortage of HIV/AIDS treatment. The article states that it is not an increase in local cases that has given rise to the increased shortage, but due to Caricom nationals and undocumented migrants in the country accessing free health care.
What hurt me the most is the fact that people all over the world are here in Trinidad yet they chose to call Jamaica's name. It saddens me because I don't want people to start labelling Jamaicans as AIDS carriers.
The closest country to Trinidad is Venezuela, and other countries like Grenada and Guyana have immigrants, but none of these nationalities were called. Is it the hate they have towards Jamaica why our name has to be called so boldly so the world can see?
Our Government needs to stand and stop other countries treating us like dogs to be shooed away, when it is our services building their economies. Something must be done.
