Dear Editor,
Is Jamaica ready for a one-party state? It is evident that this is where the country is heading. There is no doubt that the prime minister, Mrs Simpson Miller, will be relinquishing her post and handing it to Minister Lisa Hanna. We can see the precursors, for example 'The Lisa Hanna Story', which should really be titled 'The making of a Prime Minister'.
The Jamaican people should ask themselves if they are going to continue to be oppressed by the two-party system of government, when one party is doing absolutely nothing.
Being a one-party state is not an entirely bad thing. Take Cuba, for example. But absolute power can prove to be dangerous -- history has shown us that.
A party that is divided amongst itself must fall. The Jamaica Labor Party is so divided that everyone is leaving or considering leaving. This party is a mockery. What exactly is their agenda?
Andrew Holness must have the people's interest in heart and mind, he has done nothing for the party or the people of Jamaica. I pray this is not another Edward Seaga saga.
The young beauty queen is about to reign; can she do the job? I doubt it, but it remains to be seen.
The next general election, in about two years, will be between Miss Lisa Hanna and Andrew Holness.
