Dear Editor,
I do not know if the Ministry of Health is running down the award for the most incompetent of all government ministries, but it is obvious to me that they are clueless to a disturbing degree.
Over the last several days residents in several Portmore communities have been battling the mosquito plague of biblical proportions. The mosquitoes are not only huge but come in our houses hundreds at a time. After literally fogging my home privately, I ended up sweeping out hundreds of mosquitoes.
Health Minister Dr Fenton Ferguson is clearly a slow learner and is firmly on course to repeating the same chikungunya disaster that left some dead, whether he admits it or not, and almost every other person in terrible pain.
I am using this medium to beg and beseech Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to take charge, as frankly I am sick and tired of hearing Dr Ferguson, Marion Bullock-Ducasse, and other mouthpieces boast about "enhancing their vector control activities".
The press releases and the reality on the ground are light years apart, and the media needs to send journalists out on the ground rather than regurgitating these useless and less than truthful media statements from a ministry that took years to fix elevators at the largest hospital in Jamaica.
Enough is enough! Help us please, Madam Prime Minister.
