Dear Editor,
Authority figures once asked of Jesus by what authority He did the things He did. The reason for them asking is perhaps the same reason that the Opposition senators chose to boycott Senate proceedings; the reason is a lack of faith.
Ever since man and woman were created, there has been constant conflict between those who have faith, and those who do not; with the latter having or claiming to have authority.
Senator Marlene Malahoo-Forte was suspended from the Senate by President Floyd Morris for issues surrounding a document which she had not presented to him at that time.
If only Malahoo-Forte had acknowledged, as many faithful Jamaicans would have, that the unofficial "world boss" had a hand in her misplacing the document. If only she had gracefully accepted her suspension which was handed to her by the authority to which she subscribes, and gracefully returned after it had expired, not for the sake of the said authority, the Jamaica Labour Party, the devil, and not even herself, but for "our" sake, then she would have been in a faithful company similar to that of a resurrected Jesus.
The biggest monsters that we face today are faithlessness and a lack of reverence for authority. Those who lead our families, organisations, and this nation need to be able to recognise and understand these monsters, fight them, and not succumb to them. They must be willing to take hurtful licks for our sakes. They must not only be "fit", but also be faithful as they take on the nation's Goliaths while we, the led, faithfully fight the Goliaths in our personal and professional lives. May our leaders know what they do and say, and when they don't, may we forgive them, as well as vice versa.
