Dear Editor,

I read with great sadness of the passing of Victor Edwards, past president of the Jamaica Teachers' Association

The old boys who attended Cornwall College in the 50s and early 60s remember Victor "Rocco" Edwards very well.

He was a true educator, who taught English and history at Cornwall College ('CC'). He was simply a master at his craft. His English was impeccable. He expected excellence and he stimulated the thinking process among his students. His persona as well as his sartorial presence was one to be emulated. He accepted no nonsense.

The old boys of 'CC' remember well Victor "Rocco" or "Johnny Rocco" Edwards with affection as well as with great respect.

Among the galaxy of educators at Cornwall College in those exceptionally remarkable days is the name Victor "Rocco" Edwards. I, for one, learned a great deal from him.

The sad news reignites the nostalgia for those long gone days and reminds us of the passing years.

I offer respect and condolence to the family. May his soul rest in peace.
