A crisis that we need to deal with

Talk is cheap, and Jamaica is the talk shop of the world, it is often said. Freedom of expression is a right we have enjoyed to the fullest.

There is always an abundance of ideas being expressed in the public domain and controversies characterise public discourse. We are very creative and ingenious in many respects and definitely not short of intellectual capital.

Every innovation which has resulted in economic growth and development and transformed people's lives was once a mere idea. We do have the intellect, insight and capacity to solve our socio-economic challenges and ills, but too often fail to implement and let them bear fruit. There is a serious crisis of implementation that we need to examine in-depth, tackle and overcome.

Let the ideas flow and let us keep talking. But let us also take action and ensure their implementation. Talk, then, will not be cheap and acquire real significance; when we think and leverage knowledge.
