In John 14: 2, Jesus said, "In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you," which effectively means that a house is much bigger than a mansion. Holness isn't waiting on Jesus to prepare a place for him. He, like Jehovah's Witnesses, wants his on Earth.
Some people want their members of parliament (MPs) to reside in the constituency in which they run, I cannot imagine Portia Simpson Miller living in St Andrew South Western or Andrew Holness in St Andrew West Central. They wouldn't get any peace. Hundreds of constituents would regularly gather in their yard awaiting handouts.
This is the curse for many rural MPs. We need to see where every MP resides, and know who among them own houses abroad. That is transparency.
Thankfully, where both the prime minister and the leader of the Opposition reside only domestic helpers walk on those roads. Garbage is regularly collected, no water lock-offs, no potholes, the stench of Riverton dump doesn't permeate the air, and there is peace and quiet. They couldn't survive a day in the constituencies they represent. How difficult is it to reside in luxury but represent people who live in squalor? Even if they both originated in poverty that must be so long ago they can hardly remember.
Absolutely no one -- well except for Dr Peter Phillips -- begrudges any of the leaders for their achievements, which must have taken phenomenal sacrifice, but it must be impossible for them to empathise with us the poor.
