2015: A bad year for Jamaica

Despite whatever the odds may be, 2015 has been a bad year for Jamaica because too many people have been killed and have lost their lives tragically. The figures revealed, so far, that some 1,140-odd people have been wiped out by crime and violence, and 340-odd have perished, so far, in traffic accidents. This is a massive total in the face of a small population.

Even if our economy was in top shape and 95 per cent of our people were employed; even if every man and woman, every lad and every lass could easily find their breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day; and everything was running smoothly, I would still have it down that 2015 is a bloody year, a gruesome one for our society.

Life is far more precious than anything on the face of this Earth. So when we see our brothers and sisters being brutally murdered, or dying like mosquitoes, it’s the most serious problem, the most terrible thing that could ever happen in any country. It’s very sad and a sorry sight to see our society in this state. This death crisis has got way out of hand.

We cannot afford to allow this to continue, and it should not be repeated in 2016.
