Dear Editor,

Dear PNP, we need to talk. I know that December 29 marked the first anniversary of our getting together ... again, but there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now. I think we should break up. And trust me when I say ... it's not me. It's you.
When you were seeking my affections you seemed to do everything right. You told me all the nice things that I wanted to hear - of curried goat wishes and oxtail dreams. I took you back because I thought things would have been different. I thought you'd have changed! You seemed so smart, like you knew everything. But as it turns out, it doesn't look as if you know squat. You've made so many promises ... and broken them! *sob*.
You promised me that the GCT on my light bill would be rolled back. I am still in SHOCK! You promised me that you'd break up the JPS monopoly. So why did you file an appeal against the Supreme Court ruling that the JPS exclusive licence was invalid? Hmmm?! How come?!
You promised to strengthen the OCG, but now you have them before the court. You know how much it irked me that the last admin had such a bloated Cabinet. But the minute I decided to give you a chance, you make your Cabinet even more bloated, and reinstated the salary for PM and MPs from the 10-15 % pay cut the last admin took. Like, seriously...are you doing these things on purpose?
And that JEEP! The thing should have been recalled before it left the factory! It doesn't even have a manual!
Another deal-breaker for me was the lies. Do you know what TWO WEEKS is? It's now been FIFTY-TWO WEEKS. Where is the renegotiated IMF deal that you confidently spoke about? Then you lied about there being a shortage of green material to complete the Jamaican flag at a civic event in Montego Bay. Then you lied and said that Shaggy's "On a Mission" wasn't the official Jamaica 50 song (I am still cut up by that, by the way). Then you lied and said there were no sticking points in the IMF negotiations. You lied ... and lied... and lied ... The other thing that cut me to the core was your spending. You seemed to have no regard for the tight financial situation that we were in. Can you imagine my horror when I was scrolling through my Twitter timeline to see that one of your Government ministers "a shell dung a club" in London? And then read in the papers in the days following that the spend in London was a total of JMD$140,000,000.00?!
And what hurts most of all *sob* is that you accused me of being insecure when I asked to see the budget and receipts, all the while saying it was value for money. So how come none a dat neva spend pon mi?! Your true colours continued to show with your arrogance and hypocrisy, telling me that bus fares will have to be increased, while you enjoy the luxury of 16 new high-end SUVs. THIS after telling me that the cupboard is dry, and we'll have to tighten our belts. THIS ... as our roads continue to be deplorable, and we are left with no other option but to watch our salaries go right into vehicular maintenance (even though we pay taxes). Speaking of taxes ... the unkindest cut of all - YOU TAXED PATTY?! *bawls* I just don't think we can continue. This financial and emotional abuse is just too much to bear. Is there really hope for change? I gave you another chance, thinking you really had changed for the better. But I see the old habits continue to dominate, and now I remember why I rejected you in the first place. So it's you. Happy Anniversary.
