Dear Editor,
I sat down thinking, how do people in some of our church hierarchy remain quiet on some matters and vocal on the others.
Certain moral issues will cause these righteous folk to take up their sword and only Christ can tell them to put it down. Yet, they are as quiet as a lamb on pressing and current issues that would cause our Lord and Saviour to describe these people and their actions as that of a nation of vipers with pretty sepulchres that stink on the inside.
I guess how you keep them quiet is to appoint them to boards, keep their offering plates full, support their events, and make a visit to their churches. That may be what’s causing the quiet on some of these issues.
With the number of children murdered and the increase in violent crimes affecting the society, these should cause church leaders to march to Jerusalem and let the leaders know that enough is enough. The lawlessness in the society, the behaviour of our schoolchildren in public places, like the transport centres, and the loss of the reign of good values, causes little stir. The church’s flavour is missing. The love of power, influence, recognition, position, and favours granted have caused so many in our church to be lambs with sealed lips.
