We ought to be positive and optimistic in whatever we set out to do, but I have a message for the current West Indies team.
I am asking them, please, to stop counting the chickens before they are hatched. There are many times, before the start of a match, the captain, along with some of the players, gives us some whopping words of promise of their intention, their view, and how they feel about about it.
They are very good at entertainig us with convincing words that we think they will put into action in their cricket matches.
They are very good at entertaining us on paper, but not in reality. So often, they have found themselves in a nightmare — defeat after defeat. The present crop has tarnished the good reputation of West Indies Cricket.
So, I am asking the players to keep quiet for a while; do less talking when being interviewed before the start of a series, since your talk seems to be one of pure jestering or empty promises.
Muhammad Ali, for example, used to talk a lot before a fight, but he delivered the goods; his talk was transformed into positive results; but the the talk of the West Indies players is a sham.
West Indies cricket is still in disarray. Who will rescue us?
