It’s the PM’s right! Leave her alone!

I read in a recent newspaper article that members of the Opposition party are complaining that the Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is dawdling with the election date.

For anyone to have decided to enter politics without spending the time to understand it and the power vested in certain elected offices, they would be extremely dim-witted and not worth being considered by the electorate.

It is the power of the prime minister and no one else to call an election…full stop.

No one can dictate and/or rush the leader of the Government to go to the polls, and so I ask the uninitiated to stop embarrassing themselves by making brainless comments about dawdling, as if it is a breach of the electoral process.

Constitutionally the election is due by December 29, 2016, plus another 3 months that would take us into 2017, so those rookies seeking office should stop being argumentative, and instead use the time available to better understand the politics into which they have sought entry.

Instead of anticipating the election date or instigating for an early date that suits one party over the other, I suggest these aspirants go and meet their constituents and tell them what plans their party has to make the peoples lives better, what plans their party has to better the economy, to improve infrastructure, to improve agriculture, education, tourism, to avoid Jamaicans “waking up dead,” to lower electricity bills, and to better the growth in the BPO sector.

So stop the bickering about the constitutional rights of the prime minister.
