Dear Editor,
God said this to the enemy, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on Earth like him.” ( Job 1: 8)
Is there anyone at the moment like Chris Gayle? We all have our talents and our purpose in this life, but, in the game of cricket, especially when it comes to the shortened version, there seems to be no one who can match Chris Gayle.
He just keeps on going; breaking records, even his own record.
He has a bad reputation for inconsistency, but his mighty batting power, advancement, achievements, and the magnificent impact he has had on the game of cricket have completely overshadowed that.
He was the first cricketer to score an international Twenty20 cricket century a few years ago. And here he goes again, back in the history books being the first man to score two international Twenty20 cricket centuries, adding another in this current Twenty20 World Cup Series.
I heard Phil Simmons say in an interview that only the likes of a Viv Richards he would consider to be comparable with Gayle — I paraphrase a little. I endorsed what Phil has said.
We say thanks to Gayle for the great entertainment he has been giving us and all the people around the world, and for making Twenty20 cricket come alive. Keep it up, Gayle. We like it.
