Dear Editor,
I am very disappointed that employers advertise and do not state the salaries, health and other benefits when soliciting employees.
In my opinion, it is very deceptive and asymmetric. Why is it such a top secret? Both parties have what the other needs.
People in the market of seeking a job may be anxious for employment. However, it is a waste of one’s time to apply, attend an interview, or even two, then to be told of all the intricacies or details of the job including salary, long after the prospective job seeker is involved in the process.
Salaries and benefits should be outlined along with the roles, responsibilities and educational requirements.
Needless to say, the company’s time and mine is wasted because after going through all the processes to be told that I was successful, and the salary far from what I was expecting, and I had to decline.
It was rather time-consuming, expensive for both parties and baseless. Employees are less inclined to take up an offer that’s less than their monthly expenditure.
Please, employers, take this into consideration.
