Not JPS

Dear Editor,

We have noted the captioned picture in your publication of Friday, April 1, 2016 on page 6, entitled “Look at this, JPS!” The picture shows a pole broken at the base, which is being supported by cable wires only. The caption indicates that this is cause for concern for residents, in addition to affecting Internet service in the area.

Kindly note that the pole in question, located at 43 Charles Street, is not a Jamaica Public Service (JPS) pole. It carries telecommunication cables only and has at no point carried JPS equipment.

We do understand that the error is easily made, as many of the island’s poles belong to JPS. This, however, is not the case here. We do appreciate your continued interest in these matters as we strive to serve the public with excellence.
