Dear Editor,
We are responding to a letter in the Observer Online on May 15, 2016, entitled ‘Improve Education, cut MPs’ salaries to increase benefits to teachers’ by Alexander Scott.
Please be advised that since The Mico was empowered to offer four-year bachelor degrees, the matriculation requirements (as of 2008) are:
Five CSEC subjects (including English A and Mathematics) and two CAPE subjects at unit one.
Because we are acutely aware that not all subjects are offered at CAPE, we do accept students with a minimum of five CSEC subjects. However, such students must complete two CAPE substitute courses designed to satisfy the matriculation requirements during their first academic year.
The admission process also includes an English Entrance Examination, a Mathematics test, a Psychometric Test and an interview.
The Student Handbook provides further details of the programme requirements. Our admissions requirements are also detailed there.
We invite readers to visit our website: www.themico.edu.jm to familiarise themselves with details of the programme offerings and the matriculation requirements to enter the institution.
