Dear Editor,
The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) in Jamaica seems to be a law unto themselves. From one scandal to another they move seamlessly, year after year, term after term. What is very observable in all this is that everyone, including the authorities, seem to have their hands tied.
I didn’t believe that after the ‘fat cats scandals’, NetServ, Cuban light bulb affair, and Trafigura these cats could be allowed to prowl and pounce again. But, lo and behold, as night follows day, they have been showing us their true colours again with another scandal; this time from within with whispers of corruption. Can it be any worse?
The claim is coming straight from the river bottom, and if “fish come from river bottom an tell yuh say alligator down there, you should believe him”. Will we now finally believe, as a nation, how misguided some people are? They refuse to follow their own organisation’s rules and guidelines, yet they want to remain in power. A dredging of that filthy river is needed.
If the Jamaica Labour Party had done anything close to the atrocities mentioned under the banner of the other party, there would be no ends of political and social commentators, university lecturers, pollsters, private sectors leaders, and lobby groups condemning, calling out, calling for action, and even giving their own brand of verdicts on the issue. Why are they all so silent now that the PNP is under the spotlight?
Upon the back of these latest revelations, we should become sober, once more, as a nation.
My concern is what would have happened if the PNP had become the Government on February 25? Would we know about the barren agricultural loans, the unproductive Factories Corporation of Jamaica activities, or the ‘missing’ campaign funds?
Now that the feature presentation has begun, I urge you all not to move for a minute from your seats as you just might miss the best part of this ride. Everyone can sit back and grab a large popcorn. Of course the smokescreens will be released shortly so beware of what they may unleash upon the country.
Just wondering for a moment, where are the donors of the monies? Why don’t they come out and say whom they gave and how much?
A popular saying is that there is more than one way to hang a dog, and this dog of corruption must be hanged!
