Dear Editor,
Sometimes we sit and ponder in our innermost thoughts about the state of affairs of our lives. The issues might include mortgage, rent, general expenses, a medical issue, love, etc. Sometimes the challenges are so many that they somehow cripple us mentally or take us to the point of tears — although we might not show it.
Living in today’s world is not an easy task, especially as a man, especially as a man with a family. We tend to sit and think deep — I mean real deep — to the point where we are zoned out to everything around us and it may become obvious something is bothering us.
When God fashioned man in his image he gave us the instinct to provide for and protect our families, and when situations prevent us from doing this most of us tend to feel small, and even as if we have lost our position that was ordained upon us.
But we must realise that life will always be filled with challenges and issues that cannot be controlled, and it’s what we decide to do that defines who we are.
Where do I go? What to I do? To whom can I speak? These are but a few of the questions men tend to ask in trials. The truth is that, even though we might feel we are alone and have no one to confide in, this however is far from the truth.
We have people who genuinely care and love us; people we can talk to about our problems, — your spouse, best friend, parents, etc — and even praying is still talking to someone who cares. Don’t let your obstacles get the best of you and, if needed, I advise you to get counselling so your mental health is not affected.
Love God, live life, and stay strong.
