Treasure God

Dear Editor,

I wonder what would be the answer if many of us were to be asked: “What is our greatest treasure?”

Well, anything that we treasure means that we value it, and it means a lot to us. It is like asking what is the most important thing to you in life.

This question is more important than we think, because the answer to this question can determine our values and affect our behaviour. It can also bring blessings in our lives, or keep blessings away.

Isaiah 33:5-8 reads: “How great God is! He rules over everything. He will fill Jerusalem with justice and integrity and give stability to the nation. He always protects His people and gives them wisdom and knowledge. Their greatest treasure is their reverence for the Lord.”

Reverence for the Lord is a treasure that I hold dearly, because my reverence for God directs all my decisions. Being an imperfect human being, yes, I miss the target at times. But wisdom says, ‘Get back on track.’

Can the rule of a country makes a difference if it is based on reverence for God? Certainly! Proverbs 29:4 says: “When a king is concerned with justice, the nation will be strong, but when he is only concerned with money, he will ruin his country.”

Proverbs 29:18 also reads: “A nation with God’s guidance is a nation without order. Happy are those who keep God’s law!” God’s commandments are for all people’s benefit, and we are all expected to obey God’s good and wise teachings.

What a blessing and a privilege we have knowing that God has given us a guide to follow. We have no excuse. The devil also has his guideline. Be wise. Don’t be deceived. Accept God’s love. The devil is our greatest enemy. God shows His love when He sent His Son to die for our sins. Accept this precious love. Make him your treasure.
