Dear Editor,
Former minister of state in the tourism and entertainment ministry, Damion Crawford, recently stated on his Nationwide News Network evening discussion radio programme that some of Portia Simpson Miller’s advisors and aides are huge liabilities to her and should go.
On Saturday night, when most of the country was awaiting information and updates from the Government relating to the status of Hurricane Matthew, former Information Minister Sandrea Falconer found time to question the outfit of Prime Minister Andrew Holness while he was on tour in sections of the country.
Well, the green hat that Falconer had a problem with turned out to be one that had ‘Jamaica’ written on it, complemented by an embroidery of the country’s flag and was not a Jamaica Labour Party hat.
It is absolutely scandalous, disgraceful and reprehensible that Falconer sought to play politics during a period when Jamaica was preparing and expecting a hurricane; seeking to divide the country along partisan lines. Her baseless comments demonstrate that she is a tribalised politician whose time has past. She should do the decent thing and apologise to the prime minister.
How can Simpson Miller maintain Falconer as her chief of staff when she has been accused of being excessively rude in her conduct towards journalists while serving as information minister, and now shows shallow analysis, to put it bluntly.
Her recent spurious comments against Holness has embarrassed her, the Opposition leader, and the People’s National Party at large.
Emphatic congratulations to Prime Minister Holness, Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie, and the entire Cabinet for preparing the country exceedingly well during the period when the country expected the hurricane. Your actions were unambiguous as you truly worked for the interests of all citizens.
