Dear Editors,
Our local and international weather forecasters should be commended and not vilified. In a real sense, predicting a hurricane with point accuracy is like trying to predict the second coming of Christ to the day, minute, and second.
It is simply not possible to be done.
The most that God gives in relation to his imminent return are signs. In a way similar to trying to predict Christ’s return, the best that forecasters can do for hurricanes is to evaluate both the signs, the data produced by sophisticated prognostication equipment, and to look at trends.
Therefore, we must accord them at least some margin of error as they practise the science of weather system tracking.
