PNP seeking to score cheap political points

Dear Editor,

It is evident that the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) is seeking to score political mileage as it relates to the $600 million it has touted has been distributed islandwide for drain-cleaning and bushing.

For many Jamaicans like myself, we’re not entirely surprised by the PNP’s latest move to politicise the bushing and drain cleaning programme.

While the PNP is seeking to score political points and is trying to undermine the Government, one should understand that this is a major distraction on the part of the PNP.

The PNP criticises the bushing and drain-cleaning programme, but fails to acknowledge that it is important for this work to be done. The environmental pollution caused by the vast amount of plastic containers in the drains, which can result in flooding during the rainy season, must be dealt with, and the bushing of roads makes them safer.

Additionally, the PNP should remember that bushing and drain cleaning were the two main aspects in the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme that they created when in office, so they should desist from playing politics.

This goes to show that the Jamaica Labour Party Government is proactive rather than being reactive.
