Dear Editor,
Instead of imposing the minimum business tax, which will cost businesses $60,000 extra per year, the Government should add a fossil fuel tax for all businesses that can afford to go solar.
The tax should include all energy-saving equipment and software and should be graded. Those who consume more fossil-based energy should pay a lot more than those who consume less.
Businesses can save a minimum of 20 per cent per month on their electricity bill by using solar energy. Those savings can go towards paying for the solar system if financing was required to have it installed.
