Dear Editor,
I am writing to salute and recognise Ms Angelique Mullings who has been awarded a Reach Oxford Scholarship to pursue Archaeology at Oxford University.
Ms Mullings is a recent graduate of St Andrew High School and has excelled in her studies, attaining highest grades for the Caribbean in her CAPE subjects. This undoubtedly made her an ideal candidate for a scholarship at this illustrious university which counts royalty, prime ministers and other distinguished persons, such as the chancellor of the University of the West Indies Sir George Alleyne, amongst its graduates.
Ms Mullings joins the ranks of an elite few in the world, and from Jamaica, to have the honour to attend Oxford University and must be celebrated by our nation for her outstanding achievement. She represents hope and encouragement for all Jamaican youth as her achievement demonstrates what hard work and devotion to studies can do.
There are no boundaries or barriers to a student committed to pursuing their education to the best of their abilities. Once again, a Jamaican has excelled and demonstrated to the world the tenacity and exemplary character of Jamaican people.
I wish for Ms Mullings success in her studies as she embarks on her academic journey. Congratulations!
