Dear Editor,
Will someone be so kind as to explain to me why is it that, at a time when it is universally acknowledged that the research into the medicinal qualities of ganja is being and has been conducted by the major nations of the world, and it is also acknowledged that Jamaica produces the most potent strain of the plant — Cannabis Sativa -— we continue to read of the wholesale burning of acres of the plant by the police?
Should not these fields of ganja, even if reaped, be preserved, so that if and when the cultivation thereof becomes legal, Jamaica is ready to get on board? In other words, reap if you will, but preserve the reaped product, so that if and when the cultivation thereof becomes legal, the original farmers will not have toiled in vain.
