Dear Editor,
As we enter 2015 many will reflect on the events of the past year as well as focus on the many opportunities that may present themselves in the coming year.
At a time when the negatives of this life outweigh the positives, I once again make a call for us to unite as a people, as a country.
We have lost focus, to a great extent, on what is truly important. We focus on our jobs, our possessions, our position in society, and while we are doing this we mentally zone out those among us who are suffering, who are hurting, who need a little encouragement, a little boost.
As we end 2014, let us once again reach out to those we come in contact with. Let us seek to become a united front, first as communities, then as a people. We have forgotten that a chain is as strong as its weakest link. This means that we are as weak as the weakest of our society. And as we reach out to them let us seek to strengthen those who are weaker than we are.
As we move forward, let us also speak positive words and give encouragement where it is necessary. We must never seek to destroy if we don't possess the ability and the means to rebuild. If we continue to destroy and not rebuild soon, there will be nothing left.
It is only light that can dissolve darkness, so let us be that light for our fellow men; that beacon of hope that will ignite that positive change that we so desperately need as a people.
Many of us have also taken on a selfish nature and, in light of that, I make this humble request that we seek and find those who are in need and share with them what we have; as it is by doing this we will ensure a stronger society and a stronger people.
For a long time we have found ourselves divided and disenchanted, we fight against each other like crabs in a barrel. The funny thing about that syndrome is that none of the crabs ever get out of the barrel.
Let us unite to build and foster friendships, speak positive words, and build the confidence necessary to embrace change to share what we have so we can strengthen the weakest of our society.
