Dear Editor,
I read with great trepidation and anxiety the article in the Daily Observer which reveals details from an international study showing that Jamaica has the highest number of female managers in the world. This is a serious indictment on us as the male species and whom the Bible says should be the head of the house.
For too long we, the males, who should be leading the social transformation, wealth creation, morals, and family life processes have now become an endangered species as it relates to leadership and management.
Men have been isolated and have got caught up in their own false world of profiling and being just a plain poppyshow in the eyes of women who continue to move on an accelerated path of management. The situation will not change anytime soon, and we men had better start getting use to it.
Females far outnumber men in all universities operating in Jamaica, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Even in the HEART/NTA certification courses male enrolment is almost non-existent. When did we lose our way as the a gender that should be leading the perceived weaker sex? The only places where we are showing and lead is in the prisons, scamming, drug dealing, 'material thing' running down, we are no more that a gender of poppyshows.
