Good experience at Swallowfield Depot

We often hear or read of poor service from public agencies. I wish to record a very positive experience with the testing of my car for roadworthiness.

On Friday, January 30, 2014, I took my car to the Island Traffic Authority, Swallowfield Motor Vehicle Examination Depot. I arrived shortly after 10:00 am and entered the line -- I was the only one at the time -- and was courteously welcomed. My fee receipt, car licence and existing fitness certificates were produced and the car examined for all its lighting systems. I was instructed to park opposite, another officer requested the following information written on the back of the payment receipt: name, TRN, and driver's licence expiry date.

The car was started, the brakes tested, and I was then instructed to park at the fence and wait in the office for the new certificate of fitness, all of which process taking less that 20 minutes.

All the officers were neatly attired with their ID jackets, and efficiency and courtesy were the order of the day.
