Dear Editor,
I read a story on Jamaica Observer online advising that Digicel had acquired the rights to the NBA in the Caribbean. To be honest, I didn't read all of it as I had a busy morning and was checking the major stories on the Observer site, as I do before starting my day. So the day went by, and when I got home, in my mind in time to catch the NBA game on TNT at 7:00 pm -- as on a Tuesday they would have two NBA games -- to my surprise and disappointment the channel was blocked. This blockage was due to the fact that Digicel had acquired the rights, therefore it cannot be shown.
Digicel acquired SportMax, which has only two stations, and on none of these stations the "blocked" game was showing. How can this be value added or even near to "extraordinary"; perhaps extraordinarily disappointing. Why would you block the game if you don't intend to show the game on one of your stations? Could someone please explain this logic to me, as it seems to be beyond my simple level of intelligence and reasoning.
I refuse to believe the team from Digicel in charge of this section is just "bad mind" and intent on frustrating the viewing public. There must be an explanation or plan of some kind to allow games they are not showing on their two acquired stations to be shown on the regular stations. An explanation is warranted, as I don't believe I was the only disappointed viewer. And to make it even worse, the game blocked was between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, a highly competitive and anticipated game. "Cho, man!" Digicel please clarify.
